Di notte il pellegrino

Check out this beautiful aria from Handel. It is sung by Spanish soprano Nuria Rial.

One of the unique traits of baroque music, that has carried into most modern day music, is a beginning adagio/allegro part, then a middle part and then the repetition of the first allegro/adagio part. Each artist then adds their own embellishments to the third part of the aria. This makes the music unique and inviting to hear.

Nuria Rial also sings with French countertenor Philippe Jaroussky. Here is one beautiful aria they sang together. It is called Io t’abbraccio

A more energetic version of ‘Di notte il pellegrino’ is sung by soprano Sandrine Piau here.
