Online Education Puts Classroom Teachers Out of Work

Frederic Bastiat (1801 – 1850) was a French writer and economist. He was a firm defender of the free market. In his largest essay, That Which Is Seen and That Which Is Not Seen, Bastiat declared that a good economist looks both at what is seen and at what is not seen.

So, thinking in Bastiat terms, does online education put classroom teachers out of work? Well, from one point of view it does. This is what is seen. On the other hand, someone has to teach in the online curriculums. This is what is not seen. Also, not everyone is going to use online curriculums, for several reasons, so classroom teachers will always be in demand.
